Better as “technical description”, and put the “detailed” descriptor in the tag blurb, imo

Got these on Monday.
- エイティエイトを2でわって | L27 - both currently published volumes. I read the first few chapters digitally but decided to switch to physical
- まちカドまぞく 3 | L35 - volume 3, even though I dropped the series a while ago. Want to give it another chance though, because I’m crazy.
- スキップとローファー | L24 - remaining 4 (published) volumes
- ひらやすみ 1 | L23 - new manga to try
- 雨夜の月(9) | L23 - already read and was the main reason I ordered more manga
- とんがり帽子のアトリエ | L26 - volume 14, but not added to Natively yet. There’s no sync button for this series and Brandon is MIA again.

It’s just sooo dense. Its difficulty rating is well deserved. I also didn’t find it super funny, but that could entirely be because I’m not understanding everything right away.
But I want to nominate it for the advanced book club on WaniKani, so I wanted to get another volume for that possibility. I could of course just run a club here, but not many people read 4-koma so I don’t know the interest level.

blinks - I didn’t even realize the difficulty level. I guess that’s why I hadn’t tried it yet… Tho reading through the (rather short and probably not reflective) preview for vol 1, it seems fine? Also wow the Amazon scan quality is pretty awful. Bookwalker’s was decent at least.
Perfect opportunity to introduce ppl. You could always ask in the book clubs suggestions thread. While I really shouldn’t pick up another book rn, you’ve gotten me curious. So if you do decide to run one here, I’ll at least give it a try.

I had one or two of those in what I bought recently – I opted to add the extra volume to Natively manually and leave a feedback note for it, on the assumption that getting it added to the series can be done later when Brandon gets some time to process things.

In case this is relevant for anyone, I got the following email from Cdjapan earlier:
In light of the current situation regarding tariffs in the US, we are temporarily suspending shipments for orders that include certain products (mainly figures, some merchandise, and apparel).
My order is currently indefinitely delayed bc of a hoodie afaict 
… hoping that doesn’t also turn into “we need to charge you more”

For what it’s worth, that message was already there when I ordered manga a few weeks ago, and I got the manga no problem. Also, as far I can tell, tariffs still don’t apply on orders from Japan if the order is less than $800. The exemption under $800 no longer applies to orders from China though, so maybe those items are sourced from China? Or it could be unrelated, I don’t know.

I oddly had occasion to stop by Book-Off again today. Thankfully I’ve bought most of the things I’m interested in already. Even saw the books I sold to them last time I was there
- 瑠東さんには敵いません! 1 | L24?? - yuri 4-koma. Top student x otaku. The top student is a little nuts lol. Nice light read & humor
- 祈る神の名を知らず、願う心の形も見えず、それでも月は夜空に昇る。 | L30?? - cover looked interesting, and what I could make out of the synopsis sounded like it had potential, and they were $2 each
- また殺されてしまったのですね、探偵様 | L30 2-3 … not that I have book 1. These were a total accident, I thought they were part a series with the previous novel (which is not a series
)

I do always make sure to check the small 4-koma section when I’m at Book-Off. There were one or two non-KR series, but they weren’t yuri, so it seemed inadvisable to take a risk.
Anyway I think you’ll enjoy it when you get to it

I’ve only been to (U.S.) Book Off once, and I remember being disappointed in their manga selection. The closest one is still far enough away from me that it’s not worth going to in general.
Good to know. It is one of the manga closer to the top of my list, but still not sure when I’ll get to it. I just checked, and during that sale from January 2023 I bought a total of 28 volumes of Kirara manga for a total of 1,540 yen (they were 55 yen each), yet I only ever read two of them… This is 28 volumes that I carefully selected from far more that were on sale, so it’s kind of odd that I haven’t gotten to more of them by now.

The one’s a little over 1 hr from me (by subway), so I only stop by if I happen to be within a 10-20 min walk… it’s definitely not a huge collection, but I’ve found some good stuff there. It’s a good thing my vocab isn’t more solid yet, or I’d probably be impulse buying a lot of random novels. There’s a Kinokuniya close to there, with a bigger selection, but they’re so overpriced that I just don’t bother.
Reading order works in mysterious ways I suppose

Yeah, I still wouldn’t go either if it was an hour away. Now if it was 10-20 minutes away, that’s a different story.
When I was in NYC in 2019 I bought a few manga there, but they really are overpriced. Even with shipping, it’s always way cheaper to buy directly from Japan as long as you’re buying at least 4-5 volumes.
Part of the problem is that these are mostly 2-3 volume series. On one hand, that can be good for a quick read, but with Kirara series my favorites are always the longer series where you can see character growth. Plus, only first volumes were on sale, so if I want to keep reading, I have to buy more anyway. (That’s how they getcha!) Only a few were longer series, like あっちこっち | L24??, ゆゆ式 1 | L30??, and Aチャンネル | L25.
Besides those longer ones and the one you mentioned already, I’m most likely to try きらりブックス迷走中! | L24?? (same mangaka as Bocchi the Rock) and ホレンテ島の魔法使い | L24?? (weird fantasy/magic premise).
By the way, looking through the bunch I bought back then, you might like 先パイがお呼びです! | L24??. I doubt it gets quite as uhh, trashy as you recently expressed interest in, but the premise is a bit dubious.
