All of the books of ふしぎ古書店 are half off at Amazon. I’m only about 1/4 of the way through the first one, but as other people have said, it’s one of the more interesting green/blue cover kids books.

Would be cool to have a Kindle Unlimited thread, where we could let each other know if something good is available at the moment, but i guess i’ll just post these here. For these, either the full series is currently on KU or most of the vols are.

Can’t you just make a new amazon.co.jp account? That’s worked for me…
They don’t accept my cards, because they detect the region of them.
I used to have a JCB that worked, but my bank discontinued it.
Weird… they’re just fine with my American credit card…
Amazon JP has been super weird and inconsistent with what payment they accept for me. Right now I’m in the same boat (US debit card works, no VPN needed), but that’s only been true since this month. Before that I had to VPN, and ~1 year ago when I first tried to buy books even a VPN wouldn’t work. All of this is with the same payment method and address set

I don’t know if it matters at all, but I HAVE bought physical things in Japan with this account when I’ve visited before, so maybe I’m whitelisted somehow

Does PayPal work at all? The only times I ran into region lock stuff with Amazon JP KU, I was able to bypass with VPN. Though I haven’t used it in a few months, since I’ve been using Bookwalker, or buying too much physical manga.
I’ve never been to Japan, and have no issues (I’m in the US). Regardless, I don’t think Amazon would quite have access to something like that. Unless you mean your ordered physical things on Amazon while in JP

Interesting. Out of curiosity I just tried entering my payment method for an Audible JP trial and it failed, which makes sense since the form forces a Japanese address to be entered along with the card info… but I’m currently subbed to KU JP with the same card.

Correct. I bought things from Amazon Japan and had them delivered to a friend’s house. But it sounds like other people are able to get it despite this…
According to Reddit, this can just be any address in Japan.
