Okay, so he wasn’t a fake god, or going to leave without paying, he is just an asshole.

The scene with 磐鹿六雁 reminded me of a horror book I read last summer, haha.

Edit: wow I completely missed the end of this week. Careful, it’s right in the middle of a conversation.
I would recommend reading until the end of said conversation too.

It keeps throwing me off how casually Mei talks to the gods. When I first read the words “gods” and “ryokan” I was bracing myself for a loooot of keigo
Meanwhile Mei is out here using 「っていうもん」 and 「まいっか」Not even ます形

To be fair, she seems to be in a kind of half-dream state, since she can’t really believe what is happening. It seems hard for her to take her environment seriously and thus use the proper formality level…

That’s a good point.
I guess I would’ve expected her to over compensate in the opposite direction and be overly formal. Especially since she is…well not keigo levels, but consistently formally with Ten. But now that you mention it, the casual dialogue definitely matches her internal dialogue of just giving up on understanding the situation and just going with things.
