Among other things, I started and finished two manga yesterday and it was a perfect fit. I usually look at my activity list using „reading progress“ mode to eliminate all pure status updates and movies with one button, and just see increasing numbers of read pages, as the button promises. Without this feature books finished in one day might disappear from the list, depending on how the substitute is realised.
Hmmm. It’s really unclear to me how to distinguish between „book is not tracked“ (hide page count) and „book was read in one go“ (display page count). I think we would need a setting for „book is being tracked“ to get this working for everybody. Therefore my current approach would be to leave it in for the time being.
(I am planning to overhaul the tracking mechanism, and this could be part of it, but I can only do the overhaul once everything has been updated, so this will not happen any time soon.)
This is an observation I had a couple of times already I think everybody is reflecting more on how the site works, which is a good thing in my opinion. It’s just that we can’t promise to completely change everything immediately
so I am pretty certain I didn’t log anything yesterday (Aug 13th)
didn’t even do the 2pg dekiru (was a busy day) but tonight (the 14th) noticed the 13th was filled in:
It’s a good report, no need to delete it
But yeah, as you may have guessed, the activity is created as a copy of the original data, so it won’t adapt in retrospect. Usually that shouldn’t be noticeable, except when the title etc. is changed
Yeah this is the first time I’ve noticed it, and it is a really minor thing. It’s just that I send a lot of reports on these minor inconsistencies in the titles and so on (as the librarians have undoubtedly noticed :D), and I often notice them in the dashboard activities. I noticed this now because I saw the volume title having the publisher name, and I was on my way to report it, when I noticed that it already had been changed. So, it’s a bit inconvenient to have it this way, but if it’s a lot of trouble to change it for very little benefit, it’s probably not really worth it.
This is coming from Bootstrap’s dark theme, which the popovers use, since they are provided by React-Bootstrap. After trying some other options, I think I agree with their design decision here: In light mode the tooltip is white-on-black, and in dark mode it’s black-on-white. This is to prevent the popover’s background colour from blending into the site’s background. If I flip it, it’s very hard to read. We could maybe consider using a colour instead but I worry it will similarly hurt readability.
I just don’t like any bright colors that blind me when using a dark theme in a dark environment. But I’m not a designer, so I don’t have any specific suggestions.
I’m not able to update a book I started reading. I guess because the page count is not present in the volume’s page, when I input the percent read I can’t click the save progress button.
I tried to input the total pages manually in the dashboard but the save progress button remains greyed out.
Oh no! Yes i was able to replicate so this is indeed a bug (paging @nikoru.. logged a ticket in our trello). We’ll get on it. In the meantime, here’s how you can resolve:
Lol, what a way to deal with it indeed. I think the only way to achieve something like this is to manually check off each episode on the season page?? I updated it so that it will group episodes sensibly. Now it’ll do something like “Watched episodes 7-34, 38-39, 42-46, and more of [show]” for really long lists.
This is the only instance I could find of something like this happening… I’ve fixed the text of the offending activity manually since it was just the one.
Yeah I assume it was a new user who didn’t know how else to mark the episodes. But sometimes the episodes really need to be checked off on the season page. For example some special seasons of anime can have a lot of episodes, but it can be hard to find every episode, so sometimes you have to manually select them. This happened to me with 彼女、お借りします Specials although I never marked that many episodes at once.
Yeah, I believe people can also get forced into it if they skip an episode (since it becomes manual marking mode). Depending on how you look at it we’re either lucky or unlucky that no one seems to mark off too many at once Shouldn’t be an issue anymore, though!
