What are you watching today?

Bc the really terrible working conditions went viral: https://www.reddit.com/r/WhisperingYouLoveSong/s/luADToyt8o

Hopefully it means better working conditions for the rest of the production. I’m happy to wait, if it does.

Ep 5 did too. It seems they’re intentionally adding filler, compared to the manga. Really not enjoying that, but at worst it’s only a few more episodes. Oh wait it’s a full 12 eps

I tend to think something “went wrong“ here, too. Otherwise they wouldn‘t have started mid season.

From what I understand, it’s just a short arc in the manga. So seemingly they didn’t wanna tack it on to the next (and final) arc. Hence them filling it out I guess

Edit: nm that doesn’t actually address what you’re saying. Idk I’ve never heard of ufotable having bad working conditions (unlike Yokohama), but it’s certainly possible. There weren’t announcements of it being delayed either (unlike ささ恋 which was delayed a whole season already)

One problem is that the TV stations who finally give the money have become extremely stingy, I‘d suppose. The reason might be that they made losses during the corona time. I know of at least one TV station who stopped producing anime completely, they now only show productions of other stations. And then there is also the growing competition with the streaming platforms…

Continuing on with 百合姫 animes (maybe I should make a list of those)…

I thought it was pretty decent… wasn’t really wow’d but enjoyed it enough that I’ll attempt the manga and LN

I tried episode 1, and it’s too absurd for me… but I’d like another weekly anime, so I’ll try episode 2. I really wish I could find JP subs for this series - cuz some of it is just totally flying past me.

Weekly shows:

  • ガルクラ 11 - this was sooooooooooo excellent, and I’m looking forward to rewatching, when subs are up. So many touching moments, and also the 3D for the band performances was really excellent
  • よるクラ 11 - this was a definite improvement from the last two weeks, but it still left things way too open, and I really don’t understand how it’s the penultimate episode. Not feeling very confident about the final ep
  • 声優ラジオ - this was excellent
  • 鬼滅の刃 - disappointed in this & last ep… dislike the filler

I don’t know how much I’d watch from it (seeing as my tbw pile is pretty large) but I would at least favorite that list :slightly_smiling_face:

I can’t decide whether to do that or just a “my recommended yuri” list… oh actually looks like someone on MAL did it already: Comic Yuri Hime Anime Adaptati - Interest Stacks - MyAnimeList.net … guess I can recreate it here tomorrow

悪役令嬢: Yes, I remember, I liked the first episode very much, actually lol, but from there it became more and more ok-ish.

For me it was the opposite. I was half bored, half interested, for the first 2 eps, but then it got gradually more interesting… but never really peaked - just stayed somewhere in the middle most of the time.

The light novel has been on my TBR for the past 5 years or so  Maybe that would be an insensitive to get to it.

I read a pg or 2 from it. It seems like it will be good, but also something that I’d want to read alongside translation. Something about the writing style was a bit challenging for me. I’ll probably stick with the manga, so I have time for other yuri LNs. I really wanna get some more added to the site, and graded.

Anyway would definitely love to hear your impressions if you do read it

Started watching Sand Lands on Disney+ and found that it has been mostly understandable for me. I still need some practice with the vocab in certain scenes but it’s doable. Kinda makes me want to get the game as well :joy:

I started watching Double Decker! today, long enough after having watched it ENG-subbed that I don’t remember much more than the gist, and as expected, I don’t understand a whole lot lol

…And then after finishing the first disc, I found out that this is one of the rare ones that includes subs! I hate that Blu Rays go straight to the content instead of the menu. Well, hopefully I’ll remember next time, and hopefully when reread/rewatch functionality finally gets implemented, we’ll be able to set subtitle status per episode watch rather than just for the whole season… If we could do that, I’d switch over for the rest of the anime, but alas I’m stuck with no subs :/

Just started:

3 episodes in, and so far pretty underwhelmed. I’ve read that the show is sorta like a big advertisement for Hokkaido, and that’s keeping me watching for now. There are some things I like, but the typical fan service moments, gags, and overreactions to the most basic hints of affection are just overdone and tedious at this point. I watched the first few eps audio-only, but planning to use subs for future eps.

I watched this a number of years ago, and remember enjoying it, so I figured I’d give it another go. It serves as a nice contrast to the Hokkaido Gals (they’re both somewhat romantic comedies), and I like how the gaming aspect is handled. Only 1 episode in, but the language so far is in i+1 territory, so that’s a win. Update: 4 episodes in, and it’s somewhere between decent and terrible. As always, I dislike over the top yandere characters.

Weekly shows:

Update: 声優ラジオ final ep was incredible. Watching the recording session was cool, and Utatane’s voice acting (and by extension Itou, Miku - her 声優) was absolutely chilling, in the best way possible.

ガルクラ final episode really upset me… Overall the show is phenomenal though, so I’ll forgive it, and I really hope it gets a second season. That’s the first time I’ve watched the same ep 3 times in a day (twice without subs, once with EN subs). My comprehension really jumped up btwn the first and second watch, but there were still things I wasn’t getting, so I gave it a 3rd watch (which I kind of regret). The opening scene has the 2 characters speaking in (presumably) 熊本弁, which was a really nice touch. It’s only the 2nd or 3rd time it shows up in the series.

I don’t watch so much Japanese TV/films, but I am recently enjoying 9 Border .

It’s a fairly standard drama, but I feel quite well made, and so far, I’ve been rooting for each of the three sisters in solving their problems.

(I only just requested to be added to natively, so link might not work immediately)

The links work immediately, it just doesn’t show up in search and feeds, until it’s approved

About ささやくように恋を唄う S1:

The station I watched it at now wrote that concerning episode #11 and #12, we should check their website. So it seems they themselves do not yet know when they will be able to show it. They also seem no longer to be willing to wait and will now show something else in the respective slot.
