Were you watching it w/ subs by any chance? I watched the first ep, and it was kinda interesting, but some of it was going over my head.
I did read a review or two that seemed to suggest the manga | L24 was better - and I have to say the manga art looks great from the preview. I’m trying to limit new purchases right now, at least until next month though. So I’ll keep it in mind as I’m watching the anime.
I started with native subtitles but tapped out. However, the later episodes did seem easier since they start to have more personal conversations. I was already using English subs at that point though, so I can’t say for sure.
I don’t have time because of the 2024 bingo, but the first few volumes are free on bookwalker.
Where did you find subs? I couldn’t find on Jimaku or kitsunekko, and assumed FOD didn’t have them, since the other thing I tried there didn’t

well let’s give things a twist or two…Haven’t tried ep 2 of 星降る王国のニナ S1 | L28 yet, tho the first manga chapter was good. Ideally I should read ahead in the manga, and watch it like that… we’ll see tho
I finished となりのトトロ | L18 yesterday and 崖の上のポニョ | L18 today because I was falling behind on the November Listening Challenge.
I really really wanted to watch 僕らの食卓 | L25 because the manga is easy right now but some of these Japanese dramas are really hard to come by without English subtitles. I couldn’t even find a way to attach on top of the English subtitles
I’ll be back before the month ends to say that I finished at least one episode of a show I’ve been meaning to watch
It’s cool to learn those are L18. I should try some of the Miyazaki and Ghibli movies, one of these months
L18 but the ocean man in Ponyo says a lot of life science stuff. Excited to watch the 借りぐらしのアリエッティ | L19 at some point because it’s only a level up (and it’s the first movie I remember watching in theaters; showing my age here) but I’m expecting it to have more dialogue.

Are you trying to add Japanese subtitles that cover the English ones? You can use the Substital add on for that if you already have a sub file. I think it’s Chrome only?
I watched it on Gagaolala and was able to turn off the English subs. I ended up adding them using a different addon than @shiver does (I forget the name offhand) but was able to get it with Japanese subs pretty easily.
I caught up with this, and while there’s various things where you just have to nod and smile wrt character relationships, the plot and drama that ensues from them is quite fun! The politics, and the way romance (or lack of) plays into it, get pretty interesting. You just kinda have to think of it like an 乙女ゲーム at times
Watched some more of this, to error-check my listening for 転生王女と天才令嬢の魔法革命 2 | L32 audiobook. As an anime-only it works fairly well, but as an adaptation, it’s missing more than I am! 
it falls pretty short in portraying character dynamics, important characterization, etc. It also goes for a lighter, more humorous tone than I care for at times (the characters feel much less mature than in the novels). I still think it’s worth a watch (esp if the LNs are too hard), but it’s lacking a lot of what I really love from them
Good to know… if I watch it at some point, maybe I’ll do the jpdb deck a bit first, to cover those (or just roll w/ it)
Substital are on Firefox also. I appreciate the suggestion because that is what I planned to do however it seemed the source of the video would not allow me to add the subtitles otherwise I’ve had much success with the extension.
Not related to the time I tried to apply for Our Dining Table, There was one time where the subtitles would run back previous lines after pausing and unpausing but I don’t know if that was a player issue or an extension issue because it only seemed to happen to one anime on a site I already used.
I was under the impression that it was completely unavailable in my country (USA) so I did not bother to look at Gagaolala but you’re right…
Now if only I’d waited till tomorrow, I could have added all of these to my December Listening Challenge instead of November 
Finally watched some anime after a month break. I just watched episodes 6 and 7 of アオのハコ S1 | L23, so still a bit behind.
What do you think of it?
I like it well enough. Definitely got those shounen vibes, but it’s fun and I like the characters (and the animation is great). Hina is my favorite character so far.

Yeah, same. It’s within tolerance level, so I’ll enjoy it for what it is.
I’m currently 7/10 episodes into 死役所 S1 | L30?? and enjoying it quite a lot. I recommend checking the tags before you watch (it has a lot of child death) but if you don’t mind dark tear jerkers that are lightly comedic it’s a fantastic show. It’s only on Netflix Japan til the end of the month, but since the episodes are 30 minutes long it’s not a huge time investment and could be doable for some people. I might finish it tomorrow and then I can resume watching 全領域異常解決室 S1 | L30?? which is my other latest obsession. Youkai AND crime? Oh yes.
Neither is graded yet but I imagine 死役所 will end up in the high 20s/low 30s and 全決 will end up around 35.
