According to BookWalker, this is the page info:

Chapter Page No. Total Pages
Prologue 3 18
Chapter 1 21 48
Chapter 2 69 50
Chapter 3 119 22
Chapter 4 141 60

I think we could either read a chapter a week (5 weeks total), or split the three larger chapters so we’re reading about the same number of pages every week (8 weeks total).

Which would you prefer?
  • One chapter a week (5 weeks)
  • Split chapters (8 weeks)

Looks like we’ll be starting April 8th, reading one chapter a week. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll leave the polls open for another week or so just in case anyone else wants to vote. :+1:

I went ahead and finished the book up today; need to read volume two to see if I’ll continue with the series.

Well, I didn’t realize that this has already been completed. I am overdue to read, only finished the first 2 chapters.

This manga feels more like an educational science manga rather than an engaging story. I wonder if the story part picks up at all or how to proceeds into the next volumes…

That’s how these more educational-leaning manga go, I’ve found. They’re mostly here to teach you cool facts about whatever the manga is focused around, and characters and plot typically come second.

I would have loved to join this book club if it had a vocab sheet. I’m sure I’ll have to look up a lot in this series due to it’s educational nature and that’s the only reason I haven’t read it yet. I’m still waiting for the day when it feels like I have enough vocab to not constantly look things up. :weary:

For what it’s worth, iirc most of the unusual vocab was limited to sea animal names. There were a few specialized vocab words (like 飼育員) related to aquarium work, but most of the vocab should be fairly everyday.
