Oh that’s fun. I was wondering because I didn’t put an address anywhere, so I went to Amazon JP and changed my billing address to the Tenso/Buyee address and all my cards appeared as an option.

I’m also going to be trying this! I haven’t wanted to publicly declare my participation yet, because if it turns out I can barely follow the audiobook I likely won’t be in it for the long term. 
I’ll be here for week 1 at least!

My “obsession” is just to be able to use a player better suited for my needs, like http://workaudiobook.com, just like I want to be able to use ttsu reader with yomitan and furiganize for ebooks and mokuro for manga. DRM sucks for anyone who doesn’t want to use the official apps (which are never ideal from a language learning perspective).

I wouldn’t be able to follow the audiobook at all without the written text. But I think it’s good practice to do it like this 
The voices are nice and I never have to guess who says what because the character have different VA’s.

The audiobook so far is very nice, although I can’t really get used to Anne’s voice yet
Oh wait, I just checked the Amazon prices and for people who don’t use the Amazon unlimited listening subscription… wow, that’s so much more expensive.
Amazon: ¥2,450 (30% off already included, it’s usually ¥3,500!), has DRM.
audiobook.jp: ¥1,500 with a subscription you cancel immediately… and even without that it’s just ¥1,650. And DRM-free!

Shame Kadokawa books usually are Amazon exclusive, because that price is really attractive.
In Audible.com they were about 10USD each, so it’s cheaper than audible Japan too.

I got 3 months of audible for 99 yen per month. I’ll probably cancel after that. (it’s 1500 yen after that)
I put the audiobooks under my pillow and had a visit from the De-DRM fairy.
Needed a VPN to download Silent Witch, but I’m happy that the entire series has audiobooks. Apparently those are only available on Audible.
Buying the books outright from amazon is just prohibitively expensive. They really just try to push the subscription.

Just wait a couple of weeks and you’ll be getting offers for 50% off on your subscription or another “3 months for 99 Yen”, etc. after cancellation. That’s how I keep the sub going most of the year… with like a month or so break in between. 
I can count the months I paid full price on one hand and I have been with audible for many years at this point.

They stopped doing that for me in the US account, so since I didn’t need the use of the credits I just froze the subscription for 3 months. Probably if I go try cancel now they will start offering stuff again.

I’m (probably needlessly) scared that when I cancel my Japanese Audible subscription I might not be able to get in again when I want to because they changed some stupid rules/validation, so I just keep it going… 
I wasn’t too impressed by the beginning of those (and then stopped listening to them), but fingers crossed you like them more than I do!
