Spoilers should always be hidden using spoiler blur.
When discussing a specific section, please mention where you are in the book, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting, but please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week.
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, cultural things, etc - ask! That’s a welcome part of the discussion too, and other readers will be happy to help.
I’ve read this book before, so I’m hoping to use the chance for a re-read to read it physically and help make myself more comfortable making the jump between digital and physical.
(Note that that L29 for the book is pretty suspect; I’m the only person who’s graded it, so it’s definitely liable to swing up or down depending on who reads it in this club.)
It’s less than I don’t want to read it and more that I’m already overcommitted with clubs (and life ) and have been a little sad lately that I’m not doing enough of my own reading. I need to either get faster at reading or stop joining all of the clubs
Ah, no, I definitely understand that! It’s a constant battle between my book clubs, my personal reads, and other hobbies (not to mention other IRL stuff, of course).
I put it as a maybe, but I’m most probably joining this one but yeah, over commitment to clubs is a thing, specially when you’re participating in some with a very fast pace mystery books/ABC I’m talking about you lol
I definitely plan on starting this with you guys. I did pick a bad time for a new commitment though since I have one month left to prune my physical collection. So at some point I’m likely to fall behind schedule.
Alright, looks like our starting date is going to be Sept 22, at about 20 pages a week. I’ll see if I can put together a schedule later today. Thanks all!
How does this look, everyone? The book actually split up pretty nicely. We’ve got some longer page counts near the end, but I figure anyone still reading by that point should be ready for an extra 5 pages or so a week.
I think it would be fine to start with separate threads (or perhaps 1 thread per 2 weeks?) and if we notice that there are less participants/not much of a discussion, we can always merge threads for the later weeks.
I just realized that one thread per two weeks would almost perfectly match one thread per chapter (except for the prologue and epilogue).
We could go with that too.
For anyone on the fence, the book is currently something like 45% off on Kindle and Bookwalker (and seems to be part of BW’s coinback promotion as well)!
