駄菓子屋があった。路地の壁にはりつくような形の店で、まるで商店街から身をかくしているようだ。だが、店先には、色とりどりの菓子がならんでいるのが見える。真由美は首をかしげた。あんなところに、駄菓子屋さんなんてあったっけ？この道は、もう何百回と通っているけど、あんな店、見たことない…。その駄菓子屋は幸せと不幸のわかれ道。

골목 후미진 곳에 위치한 낡은 과자 가게 [전천당]. 우연히 가게를 발견한 사람들은 무엇에 홀린 듯 이곳에 빠져든다. [전천당]에는 기상천외하거나 섬뜩한 분위기를 풍기는 이상한 과자들이 진열되어 있다. [고양이 눈깔사탕], [뼈다귀 캔디], [요괴 껌], [저주 인형 쿠키] 등 이름도 색다르다. 사람들을 사로잡는 이 이상한 과자들은 기묘한 힘을 갖고 있어 손님들의 고민을 해결해 준다는데……. 과연 [전천당]의 손님들은 고민을 해결하고 행운을 얻었을까? 과자를 먹고 행운과 불행의 갈림길에 놓인 사람들의 운명, 그 결말은?!

There was a candy shop. The shop seems to be hidden from the shopping street, as if it is clinging to the wall of an alleyway. However, a colourful array of sweets can be seen in front of the shop. Mayumi tilted her head. Was there ever a candy shop there? I’ve been down this road hundreds of times, but I’ve never seen a shop like that… That candy shop was the dividing line between happiness and unhappiness. (DeepL.)

The poll results show that most people want to start at the end of January and read 10 pages a week, so I’ve updated the reading schedule accordingly.

I’ve matched the Japanese and Korean finishing lines, so we’ll finish at the same point in the story; Japanese readers will finish the page every week, while Korean readers will stop mid-page.

If anyone has access to other editions - particularly the Japanese ebook - feel free to leave the page/percentage details so I can add it to the table.

Did anyone see this guide book to the series? (Edit for people from the future: I bought this, loved it, and here’s the natively entry where I put a detailed review.)

It has a map of the shop and an overview of the sweets in each chapter (so potential spoilers, if you want to avoid that don’t open the sample!). I’m kind of torn between “this could be a fun support to make the reading easier” and “will I be disappointed if there are massive spoilers?”

yes! That’s what’s getting me, too. I think I’ll just get it and find out after Chapter one whether the overview is really much of a spoiler and then decide based on that whether to read those before or after each chapter. .

Based on some reviews I’ve seen of the series (and my language goals for the next year) I’m mostly reading this for listening practice and don’t plan to read the rest of them, so this might be a really great thing to have but it might be totally silly to get it

Does anyone know if you can get the anime in Europe? I couldn’t find it on Crunchyroll or any youtube links, they all turned out to be invalid here. Where else do you get anime? I’m a total noob at anime, it’s not really something I’ve gotten into, but thought it might be fun to watch after each chapter. Thanks!

It appears yo be short episodes in Japanese with English subs but not sure if you can watch them all. I’ve never used the site before but it let me start watching without logging in. The tune is kinda catchy

As it’s the 22nd here, I’ve begun reading.

It would be useful for the ‘read up to’ sections to have an approximate percentage for e-book readers I think. I believe section one ends at the 4.24% mark in Japanese. (I think percentage based should be roughly equivalent for all digital versions in whatever format?)
